So what do I do whilst we’re all self isolating and there are no shows/events for the foreseeable future? Make candles perhaps? Yes I would normally but as I made over 1500 candles, 120 Reed Diffusers and 60 Hand & Body Wash for the Ideal Home Show, which was cancelled because of Covid 19, then I have plenty of stock.

So what else? Develop new fragrances? Yes and I’m really pleased with my first two new fragrances – Havana Nights (Tobacco, Wood & Cognac) and Warm Embers (Honey, Sandalwood & Patchouli) and the reaction from customers has been fantastic. The third new fragrance for 2020, which will be available in June is Coastal Retreat. An exotic blue candle which contains an intoxicating blend of Sea Salt & Wood Sage. Customer feedback following testing is that this candle is going to be a real winner! Also watch out for Fireside – a limited edition fragrance especially for those that have wood burning stoves and would like the smell of burning wood to go with the visual aspect of the fire. Unique and different.

So as my brain continues to keep working I now have the time to develop my Gift Pack Collection which will be ready by mid/late June. There will be a 3 Candle Gift Set which will be hand wrapped with my branded wrapping paper and finished with red satin ribbon and bow – the perfect gift for a candle lover! More Gift Sets will be launched with a ‘mix & match’ choice of candles, reed diffusers and body wash. These items will be individually wrapped in branded tissue paper, hand wrapped with my own wrappimg paper and finished with red satin ribbon and bow.

Its been really hard work sourcing bespoke gift boxes, tissue paper and wrapping paper both printed with my logo. I’m just waiting for the final bits & pieces and then everything will be photographed and ready for you to order. They will look fantastic and will make the perfect gift for fragrance lovers. Real luxury!

Important Information Regarding Deliveries

Changes to myhermes deliveries in relation to COVID-19

I am updating all customers who order via my website or by ‘phone and require home delivery with the latest information concerning deliveries via myhermes in these challenging times. Myhermes has issued the following statement:

myhermes are putting in place a number of robust measures designed to make health and safety a top priority whilst still enabling people to send and receive parcels. We understand that deliveries to homes are not only convenient but could also prove to be a lifeline for many people and we take this responsibility extremely seriously.

So, we are making some changes to the way our couriers deliver parcels to offer ‘contact-free delivery’ right to everyone’s doorsteps. These include:

– Asking customers to choose a safe place for deliveries. Anybody due to receive a parcel should visit the tracking section and choose ‘divert’ to select a safe place. This can also be done through our app, within the MyPlaces section.

– If a safe place hasn’t been chosen but there is somewhere safe to deliver the parcel, then couriers will leave it there, even when there is someone in the property. A photo will be taken and this will be included in the delivery notification email.

– For parcels requiring a signature, our couriers can temporarily do this on behalf of the customer to avoid unnecessary contact via hand-held devices. This will only happen when the customer opens the door and gives their name for security reasons. The courier will stay at least two steps away.

– If there is no safe place available, please be assured that we will always attempt delivery 3 times.

Be assured that Clive’s Candles is still in business and taking every care to maintain a clean and germ free environment – I even make my own hand sanitiser for use in the shop & studio!
